MK1 golf engine conversion
« on: 07 February 2008, 15:45 »
my mate is doing an engine conversion on his mk1 from a 1L to a 1.6 k-jet and was wondering if he can still use his original loom or would he need to source the k-jet loom

I'd say it will be easier if he gets the same loom. Stands to reason really, but I don't know for sure. Is there not an original loom with the k-jet ?

it will work with the original loom, but you wont have the cold start system and idle/overrun gubbins working, so not ideal.  Those bits arn't difficult to wire in though once you get the loom!  Only other issue is you'll need the fuel pump along with the wiring & relay etc, have a read of me fusebox FAQ :)
