Colour Coding the GTI Spoiler....

Everyone seems to be missing the point here...

An R32 bumper is made up of 3 parts... 1. The Bumper 2. The Spoiler 3. The Tail Pipe Trim
However...
An Edition 30 bumper is ONLY made of 2 parts 1. The Bumper 2. The Spoiler.  There is no Tail Pipe Trim as it is built onto The Spoiler.
Recent confirmation also states that the normal GTI bumper is also 2 parts... again there is no Tail Pipe Trim.

So it is NOT possible to put an R32 rear spoiler on your GTI / R32 and use your original Tail Pipe Trim - as you wont have one!!

So far after a conversation with Justin at the TTshop he believes that the OSIR Carbon Tail Pipe Trim (or valance) for the GTI (part no. DTM GT1 Carbon) WILL NOT fit an R32 rear spoiler as it doesnt have clips to fit it.  If you look at the R32 assembly Robin posted above you can see the standard R32 Tail Pipe Trim has clips to hold it in place.  The DTM GT1 Carbon part does not have these clips to put it on an R32 bumper and is designed as a GLUE ON part to sit ontop of your current GTI spoiler.

The only way to get an R32 bumper and a suitable tail pipe trim is either to find a custom make one somewhere - or to fit a new exhaust configuration.

Robin is ok as he has a 4 exhaust configuration so he can fit an R32 Carbin Tail Pipe Trim onto his R32 spoiler as they design one for quad exhausts.
Unfortunately there is not a standard GTI exhaust configured R32 tail pipe trim.

right i get you, so the best thing to do would be to get the std bumper on the std gti colour coded and get the cf exhaust trim glued on??

i know that this glue stuff is really good and holds the panel on very well as ive used it on previouse impreza.

I'd like to see the difference between a standard GTI spoiler and an Edition 30 spoiler.
Is it just the little trim around the exhaust thats different, or is it the whole shape?
I'm just wondering if the DTM GTI1 carbon trim would fit ontop of the ED30 one?

....I'm pretty sure that is what Hurdy is going to do - Glue a silver carbonfibre OSIR DTM_GT1 exhaust trim onto his Ed30 one-piece spoiler.

ok ok so the r32 rear spoiler fits on the std gti.....confirmed

also do the red reflectors come on all r32 rear bumber spoilers because i think this looks abit gash!!

....I think that only the earlier build R32's had no reflectors but they are needed for the American market and are now standard build version in Europe/UK.

I prefer without but will accept them for the sake of the whole new rear treatment.

How does the 'glue' work?  If I was to glue this onto the bottom of my existing spoiler, how easy is it to remove when I sell the car?  Would it tear off all the paint etc?!

I wonder if there are any other aftermarket 'tail pipe covers' which would fit a standard GTI exhaust system, but clip into an R32 spoiler?

....The main and original purpose of carbonfibre most certainly is to reduce weight but to give strength at the same time. There are various grades of CF, each for different purposes. However, carbonfibre has also become popular as eye-candy. Personally, my CF bits are for cosmetic reasons (or vanity/cool-factor ) but I am of course pleased for any added benefits of weight saving such as my bonnet.

I'm upset again

I still wasn't convinced that the lower half of the ED30 was the same as the Standard GTI one and so took the car back up to "The pub landlord" again, this time in bright sunshine. Immediately we both noticed that the bottom of the ED30 lower section has an extended lip which was noticeable due to the sunshine catching on it today. I would think that this rules out using the ED30 with the CF OSIR DTM part as it would not sit flush to be glued to.
   I don't want to get a standard GTI rear, just so I can colour code and glue a bit to it and now it looks like the R32 section wouldn't accept the OSIR part either!!!

Any suggestions?

I did wonder that myself when you were talking about it as I thought that section of the Ed30 was different (not being smooth like the original)
