I have long since given up on VW service department and mine is going in for a service tomorrow (is tomorrow national MK4 service day or something? lol) with a VERY good local garage that i know well.

VW can be right tossers sometimes :(

Sounds like the garage is'nt do to well and their trying to shaft you. As the others have mentioned i'd try somewhere else. Also dos'nt the brake fluid double up as clutch fluid resevoir?

Well...Like we said car went in for service and what a cluster F**k..lol

Went to collect and everything was going good. Driving out of the garage got down road to turn around and the car stalled!!! Though it was me but NO...Stalled again...

Went straight back there and slightly lumpy. But cleared. This morning I had power loss. had this problem previously but god it was even worse this morning.

What scared me more, I was sat there waiting for service guy to get back with my car and I was thinking to myself about what he said to me earlier...

He said Air, Oil and Fuel Filters were changed. Great I thought. He said pollen filter wasnt done because I dont have one. But can you guess what I bloody well do LOL...

Also had a health check done. Everything came back alright with the exception of the silencer bracket broken. Great I thought. It then hit me that I had a head light blown...So out I went to check and would you believe it still blown. I have lights that only seem to work in VW premises as he marked my lights as all working.

Car going back monday and they promised me car will get sorted free of charge. Also have pushed for a loan car.

Just couldnt believe the day I had...

Hope this all makes sense...

Ben

VW used to give me a "list of things" that I should have done every time I went in. Personally I took them with a pinch of salt.

Air con service... You should be able to get this done for under £40 by a specialist if they mean it just needs the filters cleaning and topping up.

Wheel Alignment... Will cost you around £30 to get tracking and balancing done at your local tyre place. My local dealer used to take them to a tyre place anyway!

Tighten Doors... I would say thats a good deal as the Mk4 doors are prone to drooping, so a tighten up now might prevent knackered hinges later.

Headlamp module... I would phone another dealer to find out about what that does etc. Perhaps its an MOT fail?

Cam Belt... Sounds like they are being a bit too keen to do it - 40k doesn't sounds much?  When you do have it done though, defo change the water pump, it'll save you money in the long run.
