I think you have to make hole in the door card and then feed them through that then through the rubber umbylical cord into the car then up to the stereo.

I'm getting some soon so I'll be doing this in the coming months.

Take the door pocket doors off, then take the door cards off. Bring the wires into the doors. Cut holes in the door cards in the right position if there isn't any there. Put door cards back and bring wires through the hole. Then fix the speakers to the back of the grilles (obviouly putting the holes in the metal speaker surround over the pegs on the back of the grille). Then put the rubber spacers over the pegs, then the gold coloured locking nuts. The attach the wires to the speaker terminals, put the grill & speaker into the door pocket and put in the screw at the bottom and do up. Job done!

you could run your own wires there or extend the ones that go to the crappy dash mounted speakers.

the previous owner of my gti installed a single 6x9 inch speaker in the tray over the boot. but it looks like it was installed by the devil himself.

wont the window winders get in the way of any such installments? i was thinking of some 6inch speakers in the doors but i might have to downsize to 4inch..

A single 6x9? Thats just silly!

The door pockets are designed to accomodate 13cm speakers but with some custom door pods (someone did a good writeup on creating these, Dizzie maybe?) you can put 17cm ones easily enough.

i have just bought some of these, cant wait to fit them! apparently they are very similar to the audioscape ones. hopefully arriving before the weekend!

I don't think a semi will give the same results
