Might do it all the time, you prob notice more in second?? Split pipe? You got it checked with vag com or faut code reader?

nay not done owt like that.  Its recently had a big service £150+.  Would they not have noticed it then or is it not summat that gets checked in a service.
If its easy to check the pipes for functionality i'll do that tomoz (im presumin u mean the pipes that come from both sides of the turbo)  Is it just a matter of inspecting them or is there a better way?

ahh something that i forgot to mention.  I have a turbo boost gauge (had it fitted at awesome gti) so im presumin its been fitted right.

If the psi on the guage looks right (peakin at 8psi) then does that rule out a split in the hose?

Yeah sounds ok.  I would just have a look and see if anything looks split ect. Then get it checked with a fault code reader and see if shes giving you any codes.

cheers mate.  I guess the other thing i could do is track down another car like mine for sale in a garage and have a test drive to see if it feels the same as mine.  It could just be me gettin too used to my car. i used to have a 1.3 8valve fiesta so when i 1st got my golf i was amazed by how much quicker it felt.

I've noticed that third feels a lot stronger than second with mine too...... unless you slowly(ish!) build up to about 2.5k revs in second, let her sit for a couple of seconds at this rpm then bury the pedal into the carpet......great fun

But normal driving wise it does feel as if the torque kicks in earlier in third than second.
