Seems like you asked for our "honest reviews" but don’t really want them?

I've never had a VW before so I am hardly brand loyal or blinkered.

I am simply conveying my driving experience of the ED30. end of.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised when you drive a ed30 that’s fully run in, Mine took about 6K, and it really is so much faster! It feels like someone flicked a switch at 6k and doubled the toque!

My std ed30 has kept up with loads of so called more “powerful” cars, including a few Scoobies and Evos!

Without wanting to stir up you members as I will soon be one. You may keep up with a WRX, never a WRX STi but even a EVO 260 would walk away if the drivers are the same standard. As for any EVO FQ, I am sorry not a chance in any situation...end of....(we are talking std v std)

maybe from stand still.
From rolling start, I wonder.

Wolfbane got away from Evo with 305hp, he said. Also, his friend with 305hp E30 got away from that same Evo. That was NOT from stand still.

What models of EVO and Scoobie have you kept up with?

This is getting silly now. Your quoting modified ED30 versus standard EVO, your not even quoting which EVO model, i can only assume it wasnt an FQ model, if it was thats utter rubbish. I have driven a 300bhp ST and there is no way on the planet it would beat any EVO FQ in any situation.
Comparing modified cars to un-modified cars is pointless.
Just for the record I am not saying the EVO is or isnt a better car than the ED30.  The ED30 is without doubt a more rounded car and thats why its won in my shoot out and will be buying one, but please please please dont start talking about taking on EVO's or Scoobies unless you can be more specific about the model...

Sorry but I would have to disagree here re the comment on the evo 260 walking away, even an fq300 for that matter and yes I have a friend who has had both and run many tests. The difference is so minimal it's not a case of walking away????? After all std ed30 power to weight vs the 260, ???? The evo 260 is a 5.9 second car and so is the ed30 dsg, top end and throughout the gear range they are pretty much side by side. I must also say that the evo range starts at a base point and is reworked, remapped etc from base, what's to say the same can't be done with the ed30.

I know the Evo range is basically a road going rally car, on overall balance and actual performance I would have to agree to disagree re your comments on the 260 and thats not being vw blinkered, it's just stating fact??????

By the way, love the sound of the Lotus, great respect!!!!!!!
