FMFSITVR is the DV for the ED30 the R on the end standing for "remote" as the ED30's DV is remotely positioned near the front of the engine, unlike the standard GTI which is almost impossible to reach unless you have a Jeremy Beadle hand.

Hi!
I ran the GIAC software for a weekend on my edition 30 and thought it was a better power delivery compaired to the Superchips BlueFin. I had the remap removed from my car as I decided I prefered the original map! Jim Curley at STAR can now offer the 330 bhp remap for the edition 30 and that is on a standard edition 30 with no extra mods! Just to let you know Jim did the remap with the hand held switch unit with my original and performance program for £599 all in!

Cheers John,my car with remap gives it 245bhp which is plenty for a front wheel drive car, also the switch unit can you change from 245bhp to standard this. Hurdy had a look at fitting instructions for d.v f4ck that.

Yes with the switch unit you can change in a second between standard and performance!

The new GIAC map hasn't been tested on an Ed30 yet so Star are unsure wether it will make the acclaimed 330bhp, if you were to opt for the 'hammer' map it would be more than the £599 quoted earlier, but bearing in mind if it does make 330bhp then buying carbonio's and millteks would maybe be a waste of time.but i would consider another intercooler, brake upgrade, and another uprated dif.well that what i am looking at.

....NEVER a waste of time imo. The fundamentals of performance hinge on air in and gas out. Efficiency and throttle response will be improved and if the GIAC remap is any good it will take advantage of an air intake and performance exhaust. In fact, I doubt it would reach the claimed 330 bhp without such mods.

330 neddies through only the front wheels is getting silly. Quaiffe ATB (LSD) is surely a 'must-have' plus big brakes, plus suspension, etc etc on the slippery slope of modding

I agree but Giac advise no extra perf mods required, Star are sceptical too and wont advertise it until they see the proof too, Its a stage 2 GIAC map so you would think that air intakes and exhaust would be beneficial?
there is a post about it on Audi-sport forum.

....For whatever it's worth, my advice would be to wait some time before loading GIAC unless you are happy to be a guinea-pig, have deep pockets, and are unruffled about the prospect of a possible argument/dispute!

I found having tried both the superchips and GIAC that the standard brakes and suspension need upgrading to cope with the extra power!
