« on: 31 January 2008, 23:14 »
My clocks have packed up it is proving hard to find a decent mk1 set is it possible to fit the mk2 ones and if so what particular will or not fit, they will be going in a Gti model running a 16v

hi mate i had to do this myself
you need a set of early mk2 16v clocks 88 or 89 two plug model they just plug n play
but if you cant get them then you can convert your loom to run the later single plug type but you would need the singleplug instrument loom
get 160mph type but they are getting harder to find
also do a search for 16v clocks on here

no MK2 clocks do NOT fit a MK1 plug n play, I think you might be thinking of a scirocco, or your MK1 was already converted! ;)

Here is a nice diagram showing how to convert early MK2 clocks to MK1, sorry its a bit big but its better to be too big than too small

hi again use the diagram that rubjohnny says and also do a search for '16v clocks into mk1'
i posted the exact wires and pin positions of which wire goes where it worked fine for me and all warning functions seem to work as they should
