You cant be saying that the 1.8 petrol is better than the 2.0 oil burner?

apparently they raced the MK5 GT Sport (TDI 170) against a MK5 GTI (not sure if it was the pony one or the ED30) but the TDI won

Apparently they I ACTUALLY raced a Mk4 Oil Burner against the Mk4 1.8T, and the 1.8T won.

which TDI and which 1.8T? as a 90 TDI against a 1.8T is hardly a fair contest lol

I'll race you  you can choke on my diesel smoke

LoL, yes I will choke on the diesel smoke...as I come round to lap you yet again!

But back to serious matters....it was the very same Red "i" GT TDI i spoke about earlier.  Both him and me had stock motors, both pushing 150bhp out.  I admit it was close, but then it doesnt matter how much you win by, its the fact that you win!

I think that once you start to tune the motors, the TDI produces a very rapid everyday car.  But a tuned 1.8T is just a different ball game.  Stock, they are very close if not equal, but once you start tuning, i think that gap opens up a lot, and in favour of the 1.8T.

Or dont you guys agree?

yebut you'll have to stop twice as often for fuel

i agree the petrol has far more tuning potential; can't argue that.  But it gets to a point where the power becomes silly and unusable especially as the MKIV's chassis isn't great even in standard form

I think the actual quote is "it doesnt matter wether you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning"

And youve been watching too much of the fast and the furious.
