Thanks RR, I was hoping that the stock GTI exhaust trim would fit the R32 spoiler but you have confirmed that this is not the case :(  Don't worry about posting the pic as there is one earlier in this thread showing the R32 rear fitted to a GTI without any exhaust trim attached.

To do this right I would have to upgrade to a Milltek with either twin dual pipes (like yours) or R32 style pipes which is going to work out quite expensive...

....Correct

The money all adds up quite quickly! However, I know Milltek very well and their support is second to none. Their aircraft-quality stainless steel are lifetime (of your ownership) guaranteed and maintenance free. Even without other mods such as a remap, their Cat-back will improve throttle response and make a very enjoyable but tasteful sound. But beware! Because that's simply how I started!! £££££ later................

RR everyone says Milltek's Customer Services are second to none, but what I don't get in this.

1. that they state you have a lifetime guarantee only if you are the original owner.  Surely its their product they are guaranteeing and NOT the ownership of it;

2. tried mailing them about some tailpipe (internal) discolouration and the mail via the web page is not recognised. Reddish brown inside the tailpipe, almost as if dechromed...wait it is dechromed slightly.  Will post pics if its bright enough tomorrow, though forecast looks bleak.

Not overly concerned about any lack of performance, its just that it looks a little...err shabby?

I have been lazy though, I will contact them by phone tomorrow or Monday and see if they can help.

1 - Think of it this way: Their brand new product is fitted onto your car and hence it has a warranty but rather than just 3 years it has a lifetime warranty which belongs to your car and not to you or any future owner. It is the product which is being guaranteed but while it's on and becomes a settled component of the first car it's fitted to. Sorry, it is tricky to understand.

2 - A phone call should find them very helpful. Any problems about that, PM me with the details coz I knows people! :afro:

hmmm thinks...right...I think i get it, the part as warrantied as long as its fitted to the original car that it was fitted to, ? No matter, I love the milltek exhaust top class bit of kit. Leave it until I post separately tomorrow.

I will post some pics to save hijacking this one tomorrow (weather permitting), and also contact Milltek by phone. I am sure that they will offer some advice. Perhaps it wasnt looked after by a previous owner (not mark_eire) he didnt have it long enough.

It makes no functional difference to car, its only cosmetic, but dont we all love our cosmetics to look nice?

thanks for the offer RR, see what you reckon when I post the pic, but I am sure they will look at it reasonably sympathetically, I mean the car is only 3 years old today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORGEOUS! xx so I the pipes must be less than that I would hazard.

....I'm thinking that they'll still support you even if you're not the first owner. Depending on what's needed you may have to visit their works in Derby though. I'm sure they'll want to help you but, as I say, PM me if any problems - Not that I can guarantee a satisfactory solution.

Btw, they do have the word "Milltek" engraved on the top of each pipe don't they?

Yep Milltek is engraved in the top of each pipe. I give them a wee clean each weekend, just to make them look as good as the rest of the car :D Will post a few pics later, but I won't be able to get to Derby...waaaay too far just now.

Having owned a millitek for my mk4 gti auq, i can say they are a good manu of exhausts.
But i think quality has slipped since then so much that i would think twice before buying one.
I am currently looking at the German Co - Remus. They do a 90mm tailpipe for the ED30 and the quality looks good as i have seen a Remus fitted to Audi A5.They also do the R32 quad pipes too.Failing that its a one of custom design from a co in Ayrshire  http://www.meercat-exhausts.com/index.htm used by the late Colin Mcrae.

I've heard from a friend on the Audi TT forum that loads of people have been having problems with rust/corrosion of their Milltek exhausts (yes, quite unbelievable really), so they are now defaulting to Blueflame exhausts. Although, I took a look at the Blueflame website and wasn't really impressed with their testimonial photos/products and how they presented themselves as a company. Anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong if Blueflame are a good, quality product.

....I know that for a while Milltek used ordinary steel just for their fixing brackets but now they use stainless steel, but I'm curious how people are having problems with rust when everything is stainless steel.

Would you please post a link to the Audi TT forum discussion
