Welcome chap!

I must have a quick 8v as it's good enough for me, funny really! An age ago I drove a Corrado 16v, and found it had to be revved / thrashed, and was a bit asthematic. My 8v has some torque, but then I was driving an 89 Vw Scirocco Scala for the last 5yrs so perhaps it is quick by comparison?? The Scirocco wasn't too bad either considering its age.

The corrado is a heavy car, so even the 16v needs thrashing to get it moving. The G60 and VR6 were the best Corrados to get.
The Scirocco is also a little heavy and if I remember correctly the Scala only has the 1.8 carb engine with 90bhp so yes an 8v GTI will probably feel quick in comparison.

As for the Mk3 Golf, definately go for the 16v if you can afford it, plenty of fun and quick.

Welcome too.
