Removing middle of dash where the stereo is

How do I move the big surround around the radio/CD as I've bought one in better condition.

Had a go but can't see what's holding it in.

When i was putting the sound system in i found that evrything overlaps evrything else. did my bonse in.

Its a pain there are star screws on either side you need to take the glovey out to get to the screws on the left hand side
Will always love my mk4 but she had to go...225 Quattro TT in its place....but its still black (she lives on in spirit!)

Sorry to sound pedantic, its a to torque screwdriver you need. Fuuny enough I had a quick look at mine at the weekend for 30 seconds when I was going to install my Ice then realised it was getting dark and didn't bother. It looked a pain.

From that guide it does look a right pain. But it'll make the insideof my car alot smarter:)
