Manifold Fitting!?!?!?!
« on: 28 January 2008, 17:27 »
I have recived my new full exhust system and manifold today and have spent 6HOURS!!!! trying to get to old manifold off!!! One of the nut is complety round becuase of rust and it have to get to and the others i cant get to with out getting the inlet manifold off which also will not come off!!! So i have had enough so how much would it cost to have the manifold fited? would quick fit do it or would i have to go to an indipendant garage? I am i Tonbridge Kent if any one could recomend a good garage.

I think theres a specialist tool you can get for rounded nuts cant remember what it was called but there have been posts about them
My local AtS tyre and exhaust fitters would not fit a new manifold only the rest of the system cant be that much labour invovled at a normal
garage.

Definately go and see a specialist. Kwik Fit are crap. I contacted Awesome Gti over in Manchester (if you've heard of them) and they quoted between 2-4 hours... and they do that sort of thing every day!
Mine is being fitted on Thursday by my local specialist (Central VW) They're really good guys but i'm bracing myself for an expensive labour bill!

I've looked for these in the past. I couldn't find them in Halfords, B&Q or Homebase.

The only place i know where to get them 'in-store' from is Machine Mart for about £24

My nearest one is in Croydon on the Brighton Road.

Hope this helps.
