Remapping non turbos
« on: 28 March 2004, 22:02 »
Has anyone got any info on remapping non-turbo Mk4 chips?  I know
I've posted about this before, but I'm just interested in what kind of gains I can get for what price.  I'm not seriously considering it at the mo'.... I'm just intrigued.

All the main peeps (like revo, jabbasport) only list stats for 1.8T.

Cheers,
Rich

a geezer named 'fran' on uk mk4 site has done about all easy mods you can to the 1.8 na engine like we both have richy, hes got a fancy induction kit, full hiflow cat stainless system(miltek) i think, and a remapp or chip, its taken his crank ouput igure to 148bhp i think from a standard 125bhp, so a quite good gain i think, ive started noticing mine pulls much better now with the k+n induction kit on, so exhaust is next for me then maybe some remapping??, im gonna contact 'fran' meself to find out what stuff he had done and where

I think the 20vT cams make a difference to the 20v engine. That 'works' rallye on the latest golf mag had them and that was a 20v NA engine with a G60 'charger strapped to it. Might be worth posting about that to see if anyone knows much about that swap.
