Windscreen wiper switch

I actually have a switch mechanism (removed from an F plate mk2 Golf GTI) for sale on ebay at the moment so I had a picture to hand. I've never had to do it on a mk2 but I have done it on three mk1's and in all cases this is where I removed the baulk to enable intermittent wipers:-

I have the same problem on my 89 16v, most annoying.

I will have a look at it sometime soon.
