Hello chaps, i'm afraid i have a slight problem.....bought these air vents and they're great, can't fault them at all. Problem is with my car though...i removed the old drivers side vent and found a circular metal disc right behind it, its hanging down on a small bracket and has a plug going into the back of it. I'd say its about 3-4inches in diameter.

anybody know what this is as its right in the way of the new vent, I can't even get it in! i'll get some pics up later on. I drive a 96 16v gti if that helps at all. any help would be much appreciated!
