Hi,

Could someone explain the difference between a GTI and a GTI Red I...

Had so many people say different things im lost

The I originally meant it was a turbo version i.e. 1.8T

I have be told the I was a turbo @ 180 Bhp and it has extras compared to a normal GTi Turbo..

Not all the time, I had a Mk4 1.8T 150bhp model when they first came out and this had a red I

This talk has been done a million times. It means nothing, at some point there might have been some meaning to it. But the dealers just stuck on whatever they had in stock. Luck of the drawn depends on what colours you have on the back.

I was going to add that, it meant something on probably the first dozen cars that came out but then you found people would change them and like aland said it was down to the dealer so they also put on what they liked .. also on occasion where they liked as I have seen some in the wrong place.

I've heard thats true as well.  I think that originally it was meant to denote the turbo version, as opposed to the 2.0l, but apparently the dealer sticks them on,  so as a result they mean sweet FA.  God knows WTF dealers have to do anything to a new car at all - surely its more efficient to do that kind of thing in the factory.

So when people advertise there cars as the 'better' red eye version, they are talking total Balls.

They didnt have any extras on.

Why are people so confused about this issue.
