mk3/mk2 coilovers, is there any difference?
« on: 23 January 2008, 20:16 »
Basically went up the scrappy for a pulley and came across a mk3 gti with a spankin set of high-spec FK coilover on.   Have done a bit of research and from what i have found they are identical..   Mine is a '92 mk2 and the other is an early mk3.  Anyone know of any differences, cheers.

hi

only difference is the top mounts on a mk3 are different to a mk2 but they not part of the fk setup so just remove em & fit mk2 16v or g60 top mounts & hey presto ............mk3 coilovers also can be fitted to the corado , polo 6n & classic saloons as ive done it to em all with a set i had ( same set on all teh cars listed )

The spring poundage will be a little off since the mk3 is heavier, new springs are easy got though if you find it's a problem.

they'll fit with the mk3 mounts as well, if you get everything.  Either way you'll want new top mounts, if the fks are new chances are the top mounts will be too :)
