New Mk2 GTI owner!

Hi everyone

I've been a big fan of mk2s for ever but never got around to buying one. Borrowed my house mates when my landy was broken and loved it (mk2 8v lowered and very stiff!like a go kart) so went and got one.

£800 spent on a black 5 door, 120000miles full history and totally unmolested. Small bumpers all round in very good order. Have a few minor issues like sun roof doesn't close properly, bounces at idle when you come flying to a halt after driving in an excitable fashion but I have found the answers on here already so shall be having a look at fixing those when I get a moment.

Main issue for me is the body work. It has some nasty silver sticker running all round on the crease on the panels which I have almost taken off. The small bumpers were a bit 'bumped' so I managed to get a set of big bumpers from GSF. Put these on but its not a perfect fit at the back so need to take them off and do it again. The main issue is that arches do not match up to the bumpers which is very annoying so I am looking for the big bumper arches or G60 ones which I believe will fit and the side skirts. Tried a few places online but most couldn't actually get them when I said I wanted them :( so if any one has them please let me know!!

Picked up some 15inch BMW BBS wheels which were hand painted black for £100. Paint is gone but I am now polishing up the metal. Wish I hadn't started!! Have invested in a dremal and got some rubbing compound coming so once they are finished I shall get some tyres on them and on they go. Plan after that is lowering it and firming the ride up :D

Car history I have had a couple of bland starter cars (astra mk3 which I thoughtfully binned, vecta etc) then I got myself a Defender 90. Had a couple of Merc 190s. The last one I rebuilt but I think the torque convertor blew so thats in my garden waiting to be fixed and sold. Also got a mk2 1,6 in the garden that my house mate I got for £100 and drove to Lands End and then to John O Groats a few weeks back raising some cash (http://www.teamcannonball.co.uk) so technically I own two mk2s now!

This is Neo, the rally car. 1.6 Weber (whats left of a weber anyway)

My GTI

and my Landy because its fantastic and I can't post on the internet with out putting a photo of it.

Welcome
Nice Golf.
Like the landy too. Good to see an off-road vehicle actually off road.
My mate's got a Landy County 130 (I think) with the V8 Petrol engine, truly a beast.
