Thanx.
I'm not sure if the GTI is higher than the Ed 30 version.
I am considering doing a few mods soon, that will include lowering it alittle, the breaks and a re-map.
For now I'm just enjoying blasting it up and down the hills around where I live ...

Think the Ed30 has another 15mm drop on the GTi.

Steel Grey its the future, but they should have called it gun metal like old mk4, sounds a bit more GRR!

Ride heights are the same on both ed30 and GTi. same suspention is fitted to both cars. 1469mm as quoted from VW

Sorry if thats burst anyones belief the ed30 are lower then standard GTi's, unless of course youve lowered it yourself

I got that info from this months PVW shootout, but they seem to have got a few things wrong in that article.

Because the ed30 with the extra's that i wanted was just too excessive. All the ed 30's i could of got were either manual, 3 door, or were box standard which id prefer a high spec GTi, The Full leather to me looks nicer then the tartan. I prefer the look of the monza II's over the pescara's. slightly higher running and insurance costs. If i want the xtra bit of power then jkm portsmouth is where id head for it i want abit extra ommph. i did find some ed30 up north but as i found out it had some major hidden secrets, 4 owners, many warranty claims in one year!!, as i found out when i checked vw's database... heres the car...........http://finance.autoexposure.co.uk/classicdd.cfm?Account=AETA44465&VehicleID=AETV81777851&Image=http://finance.autoexposure.co.uk/is/autoedit/AETA44465/AETV81777851_1a.jpg
If the cars cheap for a reason, theres always a reason why, so i decided to get near new metal, with only 1000 miles on the clock, with a really good spec, i couldnt refuse.

I could of bought from a private buyer but my dealer would not offer me £18500 trade in for my passat. He wouldnt give me same figure unless i bought a car via them and that all 5 door dsg ed30's with sat nav,and lots of extras were in the region of £24000 for a good one. most other car dealer would only give me 16k for my passat or so, so i would of had to fork out more to get a high spec car that i wanted.
I had to keep to a tight budget as have just spent 10-12 grand on new kitchen and bathroom at the same time so had to watch my spending
I couldnt be happier with what ive bought, absolutly made up and glad to be back in a Mk GTi.
You just get such almost a smug feeling driving it, as the ammount of on lookers is unbelievable!. Just cant beat the feeling ;)

Thought i would join in and add a couple of pics up ...

also had a couple of shots were my mate had to remove the rear VW badge/handle as his was damaged and VW wanted £50 quid just to fit it, so he bought a brand new unit of ebay for £20 and fitted it himself, sorry not the best of quality photos taken of a mobile  :embarassed:

this is the rear panel sat in his boot

then your left with this

No very easy it only took him 15 mins the hardest bit was taking off the back cover hoping that none of the clips broke as he did have to pull it hard to get it off, then he had to loosen a few screws from the rear washer motor and then the 3 screws from the handle all sorted alot better then he thought
