I gotta a MK2 Golf cos they were "solid etc"
« on: 26 March 2004, 09:31 »
well i gotta say people, its the worst CAR i HAVE EVER OWNED >:( >:( >:(

in 8 weeks of ownership this has happened

blown bottom end
new engine
dead oil cooler, all oil in coolant
dead water pump
tracking real bad out
electrics always f**king about, lights on/off/on
put a brand new pioneer in, which when a cd is put in it turns off and on then off and on, then off and on
blowing exhaust

what makes its worse is the sum of both engines mileages is total to 140k ::)

so i am gonna be looking at breaking it i think, this car is proving to costly to run, i am now broke, spent all my money and got nothing to show for it at all

and i paid 2k for this golf, i shoulda got a ?200 one.

rant over,

sadly i will never touch a VW again

I take it you didnt get a service history with the car?

Not every golf is reliable, not every car is reliable but thats a challenge for me to fix it.

that a rallye front end you have?

Breaking that and you know who to call ;)

I understand how you feel. Nothing worse than your precious moto breaking down every so often. The stress and frustration can be bad for you. But sometimes you got to make the decision that best suits you and no one else.

Its a shame you've had so many problems with the car in 8 weeks.
Good luck in whatever you do.

lol man that sounds like my car but i keep saying to myself, its nearly 20 years old what do you expect.  Plus summer is on its way and very soon me and her are gonna do some serious bonding.  I don't know much about golfs or cars in general but by the end of the summer i intend to know everything there is to know about my tempermental golf.  You see I reckon owning a golf is a little like seeing a woman.  Every now and then she'll play up and you have to spend money on her.  Good luck in your quest for a new car, sorry it hasn't worked out.  At least I only spent 400 quid on mine and about 500 quid on fixing lol

unfortunally some people don't take an interest in servicing, or getting their cars serviced at all sometimes! these are the people that tend to buy a car for 3 years until the MOT is due and then sell it on. the purpose of any car in their life is to get them from A to B.

thank god there are us lot who know the difference between the header tank and the washer expansion tank and know what psi we need in our tyres without looking on the wall in a petrol station or thumbing through the handbook lol.

This is usually the reason why us lot are driving our 15 year old + golfs around and having far less problems than the '51 plated newer cars. 2 and a half years of ownership for mine and only an alternator and engine mount needing replacing.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune dude :)
