Hi,
I'm on the verge of getting my credit card out for a full Milltek on my gti  ,,, but I'm hesitating  :undecided: The main reason is the noise. I've listened to some sound files for resonated units and they seem noisy. I'm sure many have had stock exhausts then upgraded to a resonated turbo back Milltek. Can someone please advise me on the following from 1st hand experience:

How much louder is a resonated system compared to a stock system from inside and outside of the car.
Is it quiet when just driving normally (does it turn heads)
Does it drone and will it get on your nerves on a long journey
Will the extra power increase be noticeable, if so, in what way (have revo)

Thanks

a resonated milltek wont drone, a non resonated milltek doesn't drone either. You can drive the car without knowing there is an uprated exhaust on it. Its only when you give it some beans that you know you have got an uprated exhaust. dj horace's leon cupra has a non resonated turbo back milltek and when your in the car and hes going around the town or sitting around the speed limit there is no drone.

But when he gives it some beans it sounds lovely and yes it definetly will turn heads when your thrashin.

Youll gain around 18bhp with the turbo back along with the revo.

How much have you been quoted?

There is one for sale in the Volkswagen driver mag (standard GTI) at £500. The seller has res and non-res centre sections too   If you want I'll PM the tel No for you.

Non-resonated sounds fairly aggressive under boost, but as Gary mentioned, it is not noisy when in town. There is a point in the revs where it is a little boomy right enough.

I am not convinced that a 3" downpipe is worth it over the 2.75" downpipe for those with an Edition 30 though.

Mine isn't loud under 3k rpm and over that you need to be using alot of throttle. Even then it sounds awesome anyway so I don't mind.

For town driving stick below 3k and you won't hear a thing

I was thinking of paying around £1070 for the ed30 version as I believe it would fit a standard gti, am interested though, can you pm details..thanks

djhorace, why do you say that about the ed 30 system?

Is yours a res or non-res?
Did your apr intercooler make a difference?

Mine is non-res. Unless you have customers in the car like I do  get non-res.

One thing I noticed when I had a play with a MK5 GTi the other night was that the standard exhaust is quite fruity unlike the Cupra. I dont imagine that the resonated would be that much louder to be honest.

It is possible that the bigger downpipe may be restrictive on a remap with regard to torque with it being large bore. I would be willing to bet that there would be little bhp difference between 3" and 2.75" but also willing to bet torque would be slightly higher on a car with a 2.75" downpipe.
