Fielder Goes Faster

Got board while i was in halfords talking to a Golf GL driver and we made up a plan.

If we measure the pipe at the end of my carb and get a green filter to fit, Then bolt it onto the end of it and use jubilee clips to attatch it to the bulkhead and see if it works. If it does we could then fabricate somthing more permant to fix it in place.

Well it worked! And the car defintally feels faster and more responcive :) Nice colour 2  :P

(pic will go here after JV approves it for my gallery)

Motor needs a real good clean  ;)

Basically the carb arm is just like a GTIs airbox, In theory its just like removing the airbox of a GTI and bolting on a Filter. Only with a carb you have to remove the existing (and restrictive) filter from inside the carb as well

Low golf mate, Its simple to do

?40 for the filter from halfords. Ill even get the part number for you if you need it.

The filter comes with a big jubilee clip, Just get one roughtly the same size as the one it comes with. Use one to tighten the filter OVER the pipe (right over it) and the other loosly around the pipe its self.

Then get a smaller jubilee clip and connect it round the bigger one, Then find a hole next to the grill and tighten around that. There will also be a small press out area on the grill (if you have the original grill). Press that out and bingo, Your getting power directally to the filter.

You can choose where to put the filter. Mine sits slightly below the grill to avoid the filter being damaged. When i need power however i just lift it up and zip tie it to a higher hole in the bulkhead.

simple really, And only took 20 mins to do.

However if you dont want to get rid of your bolt on theres another idea for you. get some induction piping and bolt it behind the grill, then bolt the other end of the piping directally infront of your bolt on and bingo, cold air directally to your bolt on  ;D
