Hiya, I'm new and have yet to introduce myself (I'll do that soon as possible).
I have a blue 1991 J reg Golf Mk2 Driver which has served me well for over six years and I recently clouted a kerb at low speed and blew a tyre. Bummer - silly moment - these sometimes happen - no one damaged and that's the important thing. This has, however, left me with a dented wheel, a puncture and a dilemma regarding replacement.
I've always fancied alloys but have only a vague idea from a couple of sites I've surfed. These were roadandrace, alloywheels and wheelbase.
I currently have 14inch (185/60) steel wheels and don't know whether to get 15 inch or 16 inch alloys (or bigger ??) - also (I know it'll be a matter of taste) what would you ladies and gentlemen advise style wise for a 1991 Golf Driver.
Are there any handling issues to be considered ?? I know there'll probably be cost implications for tyres from the moment of choice of wheel size...
I'd have to spend twenty for a new steel wheel and maybe forty for a tyre. So I thought - why not get those alloys you've always wanted, can't be much more !
So I've seen - Wolfrace Pro Sprint Silver 15" Lionhart LH1 from £315 with 1955015 tyres with flush fitting valves for another fifteen quid and another fifteen for locking nuts.
What would you do ?
Cheers in anticipation for help.
