Really feel for you, must be totally gutted !!

I would reject the car, you don't want the cars original paintwork being painted over before you've even owned it.. I thought the idea of a brand new car was that it would be all original..

If its just a bit of black trim then fair enough but if it requires paintwork i'd reject it...... You pay all that money, I'd want original paintwork.......

At the minute you may be thinking "I just want the car" but in a few months time you may wish you'd rejected it and got a fresh new one thats never been damaged !!

I am gonna go down to the dealers tomorrow to get something sorted and try and speak to someone with some sort of authority, I cant tell you how bloody gutted I am  If I have driven the car would be rejecting it out of the question ?? Not to sure on this one as they insisted I take the car as the problem would get resolved pronto.

Not sure how u stand, having driven the car away does this mean u've accepted it?, maybe this was why they insisted u took it. Stick to your guns pal and make sure you come out of the situation with something your happy with which is what counts.
Gutted for you though sort of taints the new motor experience.

May be worth getting them to pay for the detailing and bumper colour coding as part of settlement!!!!

Really feel for you

Getting a new car is all about excitement and fun, and this is just a nightmare

I'm sure it will all get sorted though...

My advice is to put a complaint in IN WRITING straight away, and copy VW UK in on the letter.

State what happened, add photos and tell them what you want doing to correct the situation.  Tell them that until you are completely satisfied with the repairs, you reject the car.  Tell them you have doubts about Chipsaway.  Ask for compensation - free servicing for three years or whatever you think is reasonabe.   Keep a written diary of telephone conversations, promises etc and confirm these IN WRITING & send them back to the dealer and VW UK.  Be fair but very firm and make sure they know you mean business !

absolutely put it in writing............a friend of mine is a barrister and when i told him about my situation he said the same thing.............i believe you can reject the car inside 30 days so i would do that and it would make you feel better 100%.............ba$tards............

my issue was a bearing weight so not major and they bought me a bottle of champagne........which was a nice touch but it ruined the BIG day as it was the first time i bought a nice car..........

good luck and keep posting with updates as people here will assist you to get the right resolution  :nerd:

Right went to the stealers today and they said they would book it into the bodyshop for next week, if I was not happy with the car's repairs they would look into other avenues to resolve the situation, which would hopefully mean a new car. The gaffa of the stealers is phoning me on monday and hopefully I can get compensated generously, otherwise the sh** is gonna hit the fan!

Dannyboyr32 - very good point.

Don't let them fob you off with a repair. Contacting VW is good, as is written letters. Unless you come out of this *smiling* with a really good deal, then it's really worth just walking away with your cash, put up with the pain of ordering new, and look forward to finally getting what you almost, almost had!

They've opened up the ED30 orders it says on another thread, so there should be no problem in the long run, but whatever you do, when you're spending so much money there's absolutely no reason why you should share the pain of their stupidity.

How can someone who works in a car depot not blooming well reverse a car without trashing it?
