More suspension issues - please help! :(
« on: 12 January 2008, 12:51 »
Right so front Koni shocks + eibach -30/40mm springs are on on the front.

Have also replaced the top mounts, bump stops and the metal cup thingies.

Now I was looking at the top of them today and noticed that there was a gap of a few mms between the car body and the metal round things that have the rubber edging (at the top underneath the plastic covers) - I'm sure this is not normal!

Also, my boyfriend who fitted them said he noticed some sideways play as well.

We have spoken about this and wondered if it could be badly fitting/crap top mounts? He bought standard ones from Euro, and they did look rather different to the old ones, but we thought it was just wear...

Any ideas???

I think there is supposed to be a gap. But i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong !
Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.

there is a gap. is the play up and down or sideways, the top mounts should be quiet big and have no movement up or down

Not up and down no - they 'wobble' around on the axis...

you mean before they are fitted? that is normal for them to wobble as they are a bearing which needs a little play, if they fit nice and tght in the stut and have a few mil gao that is fine. Best wya is to test fit them now anyway and listen for knocks.
