i know this has been bought up many times before but i have a major breakthrough and i cant mess it up! last year in jan i bought my first car a 1.3 mk2. i started doin it up with the help of my dad as he has taught me loads but after i caught the hang of it we were always fighting over who pulled the spanners and who made the tea. My little old dad got a bit jelous of me and my beloved the git was always trying to work on it when i wasn't looking, so he has decided to get himself a mistress in the form of the GTi. so heres the dilema hes told me to be the vicar and unite him in holy matrimony, i have looked into it and i know the 8v has the lower end torque and the 16v has generally got to be reved more and i think he'll use it as a sunday driver and a fair weather driver maybe do an occaisional trip to the strip or a track!? Any way my opinion was that the 16v KR engine on the k jet injection was best bet to go for in terms of top speed and 0-60s etc but what is it that people see in the 8v. at the moment unless people sway my views i'v been looking for a while for a 90 spec big bumper kr k-jet 16v in oak green (if i can find one) or in the helios blue. another thing is compatibility for 2.0L upgrades i know both 8 can straiht swap the 9a block and 16v is good for the ABF head and block but which has more potential regarding the whole car. handling, speed, response??? any advice welcome as i'm craving your knowledge at the moment.
cheers chris
