Imported car questions
« on: 05 January 2008, 21:05 »
I've just bought an 07 GTI from Motorpoint with only 5K miles. It's absolutely brilliant! The only problem is, it's an import from Holland and I only have the service book (in dutch) and no owners manual. Can anyone tell me if I can get a manual and exchange the dutch service book (not serviced yet)? Also, can I register the car with VW UK regards warranty etc?
Also, is there any "import" friendly main dealers out there(especially Chesterfield area)????
Thanks

i bought an import from Motorprovider

I found the local VW dealer in Telford very helpful, I took a copy of the V5 and they sent the details to VW at Milton Keynes for warranty registration.

I rang VW assist last week and my car is even covered for 12 months european breakdown etc.

Talk to the service guys at the dealers - they will want any warranty work and your ongoing custom - there is no reason for them to not to welcome you as a customer.  It's understandable when they sales guys turn their backs but this is not my experience.

You can also post VW customer services a copy of the data sticker (inside the service book) and your V5 - they will register it, and give you 12 months VW assist.
