If I recall correctly it is only good for 250nm so will be unsuitable for high performance applications.
The main reason for this box is to keep the greeny's happy and cut emmisions.
7 gears are good for fuel economy and emmissions as it keeps the gearing and engine loads down. As for performance cars, there is nothing you can do with 7 that you can't do with 6 gears if you know what you're doing. Companies like BMW can bang on as much as they like about their fantastic 7 speed box like in the M5, but the main reason they put that in is because that V10 has bugger all torque.
