GAH!

Bf fitted one front side no problems. At this point he pushes down on the front of the car and the difference becomes immediately apparent - new side goes down and straight up with no issues, other side wobbles all over!

I could easily compress the old shocks with my hands, hardly any resistance at all....

Anyway the other front side was very difficult to remove the old shock. Finally got it off and new one fitted only to find that something had gone awry with the driveshaft at the wheel end. A lot of terrible clunking noises and getting towed/pushed (I couldnt just start it as I have an electrical issue whereby the battery is getting badly drained all the time) about (goddamn that steering is heavy with no power) and we get it back safely into the parking bay.

A friend of my fellas came to look at it. Luckily the CV joint is fine. There is a metal washer there that has been mangled (28p from VW!) so the joint is being cleaned, re-greased and will be refitted with the new washer and new circlip tomorrow hopefully. I don't know if the wheel bearings will now be foobar also?

Car currently sitting wheel-less on an axle stand  On the plus side I did get a bunch of roses as an apology for breaking my baby! (not that an apology was needed, these things do happen)

Ride height looks great on the front though! Can't wait to get the rears done, tracking checked and away we go!

Also, I have a spare set of Koni -35 to 40mm (I think, must double check the drop) springs that might be for sale on here if anyone's interested.
