GT TDI uprated turbo etc.
« on: 02 January 2008, 23:52 »
Hey everyone, im new one here, basically im looking into getting a GT TDI as my RX8 is far too thirsty for my daily commute. I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me, id be looking into getting a turbo that could run higher PSI and hold its boost for longer, are there any other models out there that come with larger turbos as standard which would be suited for the job? also does anyone know where a larger front mounted intercooler could be found? (again if one was standard on another model of car that was pretty much interchangable this would be ideal, as it would keep the costs down), iv been looking around on the Forge wesbsite and it would seem pointless to go for a larger brand new intercooler if i could find one i could recondition off another model.
Fitting isnt a problem, also live mapping wont cost anything as i am a motorsport technology student at huddersfield and we have the equipment there.
These are the only real parts im having trouble finding info on.
Sorry for the long-winded questions, im not particularly in the know when it comes to sourcing bits and pieces for turbo diesels.

Thanks.

Dan.

Firstly, welcome Dan

If you are looking for compatible, larger turbo's for the GTTDI then the link below is a good starting place.

Intercooler maybe a different matter. I haven't heard of anyone replacing the GTTDI intercooler on the MKV yet, but I'm sure it would be possible with modifications to mountings. What exactly are you trying to achieve in terms of extra output etc?

Thanks for the website, it will come in usefull. Im hoping to achieve somewhere around 220bhp+, i believe the intercooler from a laguna may fit, but it depends on the mounting points

Get yourself a MK4 GT TDI 150. Cheaper, (imo nicer) and a remap alone will see you 200+.
