On a slightly different note - just booked a ferry to Zeebrugge in May for a wee autobahn blast to Monaco for the GP. We're going via Zurich which takes you through Germany, into the Swiss Alps, though some lovely tunnels and mountain passes and into France via Italy. You only have to drive in France for a couple of hours, thus avoiding Les Gendarmes and their silly fines. Last time I drove there I got fined 10000 francs for doing 140 mph in a 911. It was a long time ago but now I believe they impound your car and sell the story to The Sun. Aue, France is best avoided if driving is your thing.

Anyone fancy a Zeebrugge, Stuttgart, Zurich, Monaco then back via the 'Ring trip in May?

Start saving. I reckon it will cost about £1500 each (there's me and a friend in the car). It's not that much. We won't stay in any crazily priced hotels etc. And we'll be in staying in Nice, not Monaco. Nice is good for a night out anyway.

Forget those Revo re-maps and BBS Chs.

No way can I afford that plus my other holidays I want to go on this year. That other website that someone else put up was doing organised trips etc for £400.

There are so many speed cameras in France! I got snapped at least ten times when I drove through last year, never heard anything of it though  As for the Les Gendarmes I only saw them once and I drove the whole country. One thing I did notice driving through France is how many of the car's were Renault's, Citroen's and Peugeot's they were bloody everywhere!!

Hurdy - i've driven it already ! I prefer the San Bernadino Pass which is not quite as twisty with more open corners etc. I love the Alps !

If you want decentish weather you need to go May onwards, there are loads of B&B's in the area from about £20 a night,I'd be up for it and I'd gladly take anyone for a lap as I know the Ring very well as I used to work there as an instructor for a bike trackday company,I have done a few laps in my Golf but it wasn't as much fun as on my bike.It must be put on the top of your list of things to do...the place is awesome
