Whats out there to buy?

Nephew has just told me he's in the market for a mk4/5 golf  , he wants a tdi un-moded, am I right thinking the best power was 150hp, he keeps harping on about 170hp, I thought that was just for the anniversary? Any help guidance etc most appreciated, if you see or know of any for sale out there, I think he set his budget at about 14k, thanks.

the MK4 was 150 bhp, and the 2.0 MK5 is either 140 or 170

not sure how much MK5 you'll get for £14K though as the 170 has only been out 2 years, he might want to consider the A3 as you can get the 170 with quattro but again i don't think you're going to get much for that sort of money.

  Thats exactly where I'm trying to steer him, he can afford a few extra if its the car he wants, just wish I had that kind of possibility!!

im pretty sure that the mk4 2.3 v5 and the v6 4motions are 170bhp

He needs deisel, as he clocks quite a bit, I'm trying to talk him into a mk4 anni with 150hp, as the mileage he does will only de-value a newer car and atleast a anni will always be wanted and he does look after his motors.
