is this the case??
« on: 22 March 2004, 19:33 »
i have been on the rollers today with my ndbw 150bhp 1.8T. it has a miltek down pipe and hi flow cat and a front mount intercooler. with revo re-map. the thing is it's only putting out 190bhp and 209ft/lb. this is about the power output revo say you will get but not as much torque. the guy at revo said to me its down to the fact i have added the other mod's that the torque is down, and the bigger down pipe will reduce bhp. is this the case as he seems to be saying if had done no mod's other than the re-map i would be better off. other guys on here have the same excact same set up as me but no fmic and are getting 208bhp and 245 t. and they started with 150bhp but im not sure if they are ndbw's.. >:(

Hi m8

You will get different reading from roller to roller and depending how good the bloke was who set it up. Even different tyre pressure will affect the readout for the same car. It sounds strange that your down pipe is too big, what diameter is it? I could maybe see that if you had some 5" pipe on there that your air speed may reduce but I doubt there's enough room to fit something that big in. It could be after the cat if you are using the original system. As for the intercooler this will only benefit the car as it has a much better airflow at the front. Probably best to try and speak to the other turbo owners who have had the same mods as you and see where they had there?s revoed. Is there a few places over the country that do it or one central place?

Is this flywheel or wheel hp?.
As for the down pipe size, what did the manufacturer claim.
I believe that the less restrictions there are after the turbine the better for fast spool up and power. The best you could do is to have a large down pipe with no silencer exiting just behind the front wheel ;).
I find it very hard to believe that a bigger down pipe and larger inter cooler would cost you power. More likely the chip is mapped for a standard engine, so it's not making the most of your mods. What was the hp with the mods before the chip?.
Steve.

the down pipe is 2.5" i think or at most 3". and i have a complete milltek system on the car. do you guys no of any one who can do a custom map to get better figuers from my set up??. as for at the wheels or fly wheel i dont know whats it normaly on a rr session.there are a couple of guys who run the same set up as mine as i said and both cars are ndbw but do not run intercoolers up frount. but i spoke to one of them and he told me that the software he had instaled was brand new for his car and only just out as his car has cruise control.. what differance that makes i dont know as the gut at revo head office didnt mention any new software yesterday but i will ring him again today. ???
