Revo chip- how good

Hi I'm new to the golf gti! anyone tell me is the revo chip worth while? how much difference will it make 0-60 etc? Also what is the mk5 like compared to the old shape civic type R (before I race my mates son!!!! :smiley:) without the chip

I had the old shape type R and now have mark5 gti theres not much in it 0-100 but in gear times the golf destroys the civic, handling wise the golfs better again so take your mate onto a couple B roads. Had a shot of a mates revo gti its rapid he was sticking with prodrive subaru etc.

Hope you are racing on a track!

Revo on MK5 GTi will make about 240bhp. Add full exhaust and filter to see 250-260bhp  :smiley:

Go for Revo really make the GTi what it should be, not all down to 0-60 etc its just how easy it
is to get the power down.

I had 3 Integra DC5s -



and now have this and wouldnt swap back at all :D

How does the car handle with the h&r springs?
Does it sit much lower to the ground?

Stunning cars you have there Rob. I'd prefer the DC-5 tho  :smiley: Was going to get one instead of the Golf. Oh well, i'll have to get the JDM type-r next, unless i dig out enough money for the GTR  :grin:

You would slaughter a CTR whether it is the old or the new type if you had a GTI remapped. :evil:

Don't be drawn into the CTR philosophy of high revs - They have Fcuk all torque and you have to rev the nuts off them all the time to get any kind of momentum out of them that is meaningful. The lure of high revs soon wears off once you've had to drive in one for 5 hours or so with the wail of the engine straining your lugholes :sick:

The older Type R's are light compared to their competition, so therefore the comparative power and torque defecits are not really an issue with times, speeds etc.

The current and previous UK CTR's with a full exhaust, filter and unichip will get 230bhp, and that makes for a 14 second 100+mph 1/4 mile.
