weber

hi guys
i saw on fastroadcars they're selling a new 5 mm base gasket for around 7 quid, while the thin one cost 2.5 quid. what's so good about it?

and is it a good idea to remove the flap on the air box so air can enter from both holes? cos my hot air entrance has been out of use for years, and in my country we don't need it.

I used the original airbox and trunking on my 32/34DTML carb and never had any problems with carb icing.  It seems those running pan filters do have issues with icing, especially around this time of year.  If I was doing a Weber conversion again I'd still stick with the OEM inlet, with the cold air diverter valve intact - it's not doing any damage to the performance, after all.

I've no idea about your fancy gaskets, but you just need something that fits and seals to be honest.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
