You might want to consider the Fabia Vrs........I have a mapped Black magic version.

Cheap to buy & ins group 9!!

Masses of torque from the PD......like 275lbs, & it's a VAG

He does have a point!

I've driven a remapped one and it does go well and returns a solid 45-50mpg

Claims of 190bhp are a bit ambitious for just a remap.

Most seem to be around 170bhp and 265-275lbft. Which is more than enough for a car that weighs a good 100kg less than a GTI

.....

Also anyone have any ideas what it's worth? Spec is on the signature panel.

...

Always hard to value as asking prices are some times unrealistic, however as a guide just bought a 07, 17k miles, dsg, leather (no nav) unmarked car - one owner and UK for £21,400

good luck with the sale - my friends in the trade say jan is great month to sell a used car

thanks for the responses
my heart is telling me lupo gti because it`s perfect for the city, i`m not fond of the skoda although i love the advert as i love cakes!!!!!
i`ve found one i like the look of and i`m going to have a test drive in jan i think!!! anybody actually driven one long term got any feedback on it
i am a bit concerned about the fact they don`t make them anymore, is that a problem? or is it a good thing?
i might hang onto the r32 until the tax runs out but the uk is increasingly becoming the worst place to have a fast car!!! ridiculous!!! tax of 400 gbp and now my parking permit has doubled because of the engine!!! what a disgrace!!!!!!!!!!

I (er... missis )had a Silver Lupo GTI for about 5 months and I must say it was a lovely little motor. Hung on to the corners well, and still managed an average of 39mpg. Engine loves to be revved and the styling really does look like they made an effort with it. Basically you have to think of it as either half an R32 or a modern version of the MKI GTI golf.

Advice would be go for the newest you can afford to as some are still in warranty and try and get one with air con as it doesn't come as standard.

For saving money, get a diesel!!!, one thing i dont miss selling the GTi is the saving in fuel running costs, apart from that, consider auctioning the family, buy a smaller one bed flat, and keep the R.

i know it`s small but is it that small in the back?
what is the mpg in it as well rather than what it says in the press as that`s always rubbish
