MK2 GOLF OWNERS' CLUB
« on: 22 December 2007, 14:57 »
I'm setting up a Mk2 Golf Owners club, site is under construction and will be up and running in the new year. This is a FREE site to all owners'/enthusiasts of the mk2 Golf from models C, through to GTI, Rallye and G60. The aim is preservation, restoration and arranging regional meets. There will be a link to the forum from the main page. I will give more details shortly.

Please let me know if anyone is interested.

Chris

I'm afraid it would take a lot to sway me from here!

Friendly atmosphere, knowledgeable people and a massive database of previous queries.

I've tried some other pure Mk2 forums but they always suffer from either; a lack of traffic, a lack of 'experts', far too many arses or a combination of all three! I would say you will have to offer something really unique in order to persuade people to keep visiting.

TTF, I think what he means is too have a website where info such as regional meets and stuff are organized, although that is also meant to be done on here...

This is a superb site, and i certainly don't want to detract from it.  I'm just trying to get together mk2 owners from all models together.  I want a friendy non-chav site with no swearing.  A National owners club for mk2 Golfs.

I'm a member of the mk1 golf owners club, and also own a mk1 golf gti campaign.  I want to set up something simular to the mk1 owners club but specifically for mk2 golfs, nothing else.  When i joined this forum i placed a add for a regional meet.  Seems to me that there are no regional meets organised from this site - which is a shame.  There will also be a focus on technical and restoration issues, diagnosis of problems etc.

Anyway, i will be posting more details shortly and would love some of you guys to become members.

Thanks again for all your help.

PS what other mk2 Golf sites are out there?

Chris

Yeh mostly agree with what has been said, I would not move from here, as it is very friendly and the advice is 1st class.

I have tried the CGTI forums, but very very rarely post (if ever??) as you a likely to get flamed, for asking a stupid Q or something!!!

I would however try the MK2 owners clubs and see what it is all about, so crack and good luck!

The idea definately gets my support, a specific site for MK2 would be great.
And it would give me one more site to look at rather than do my work

Yea it would be nice to have a dedicated MK 2 site, but I some how think it will be difficult to get a lot of help/advice on there that is not on here or other sites, unless you ask the forum masters permission to use the data.

I hope it does work our though.
