DSG problem - ed30
« on: 18 December 2007, 16:21 »
Hello

Finding when using our DSG in 'manual' mode and changing from 1 to 2nd at anywhere upwards of about 2500 rpm that i sometimes have to press the paddle twice for it to engage. Am i trying to change too early? Is there a known fault with this? Doesnt seem to happen with any other gear changes (2 to 3rd, 4th to 5th etc).

Apart from that and the dire mpg i am getting i love the car anyway....

thanks in advance

treacle.

Should engage first time every time. I'd take it to the dealers without delay.

Hi mate,

If you can change from 1st to 2nd in tiptronic ie lever pushed to the far left of 'D' and its fine, then its prob a computer/paddle fault and not gearbox.
For me using + on the paddles 1st to 2nd is very short gear, and if im not hammering it,have to change very quickly.See if you can change high up the rev range, then back down etc.

Not ideal in a super duper ed30 on winter roads, wheel spin city!!!!

defo needs looking at by vw

i almost bought a similar car with gearbox that wouldn't change when you wanted it to and vice versa
