High revving on tick-over at start-up.
« on: 17 December 2007, 20:23 »
My 8v has been virtually trouble free since i got it 18 months ago. This morning we had a really heavy frost -2 on the outside temp at 5am !! When i started her up (always first time, every time) the engine was revving to about 2000rpm without touching the throttle, and carried on for about 3-4 mins (still revving as i dipped the clutch at junctions!)
What do you guys/girls think ?
ISV ???
Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.

ISV
or Closed throttle Switch on underside of throttle body, or it's wiring.
Also check for vacuum leaks, breather on the rocker cover etc.

... it's turned into a fashion show for poofters.

Cheers fella, ISV me thinks as it's been fine the rest of the day.
Might try cleaning it with WD40.

Is there an easy way of checking the throttle switch I've just took the ISV of and have left it cleaming in petrol but there weren't much gunk in it so can't see hat being the problem.
