ALARM

Most of us should have an alarm here so I hope you can help.

I park my car around the corner from my house, long story but my street is kind of narrow and my old car was nicked at the back and front all the time because the parking spots were so tight.

Anyway, as I am walking down the street, I heard an alarm and when I got to my car, the hazards were flashing so it must have been mine. I asked a lady nearby and she said a car drove past quite quickly and may have caught the vehicle.

My questions are:

1) What can set the alarm off save and except for somebody actually trying to break into the vehicle.

2) If the alarm does go off, what is the implication? How long does it go on for and when it stops is the alarm still on? For example, if I went away for a week and the same thing happened? How many times would it keep going off?

Thanks in advance for any help you might have on this one.

I used to have a problem with buses setting my alarm off as they drove past, heres the thread relating to it...

basically, get your dealer to turn the sensitivity down.

Thanks for that, this is the first time it's happened but cars do drive quickly on that particular road.

Do you know what happens if you didn't know it's been set off for like say 5 days, what happens then?

How many times does it go off before it settles back to just being on as if nothing happened?

I don't think the alarm is that cleaver, it just goes off when it goes off, be it a genuine intruder or in my case a loud noise or vibration setting it off.

Dont know what you mean, but I'm sure it will go off multiple times in a row, it doesnt need to be reset for it to go off again consectively, if thats what you mean.

you could have a fault, maybe go and see your dealer.

when triggered, the audible alarm has to by law cease after a few minutes, even though the alarm might be in a triggered state for anything upto 30 mins I think. After which time it will revert back to its normal armed state. I'm not sure but is the red LED on the door supposed to blink differently to alert the driver the alarm has gone off?

Get well soon anyway
