help! me cars dead :(
« on: 20 March 2004, 12:01 »
was startign to fit my smoked fogs/indicators

took em off to discover i need a different connector from the car to lights (like black gti had mentioned before one time..)

so put it all back together was gonna head off to the stealership.. and .. . nothing... car wont got.. all dash electrics light up, when i try to start the car i hear a 'click' from under the bonnet.

only thing really is that was parked on a slope front end higher than back

hard to move it on my own.. guess its the starter.. dad'll be here in 2 hrs

:(

gonna do that mon morning to get it going and take it to the stealership next to work and dump it there

^ might not come to that.. dad had a look this morning, and he's managed to start it by using a jump lead from the battery, so there might be a loose connection, am investigating.

investigated... looks like there is definitely a dodgy connection between the battery and the soleniod. have to go out for dinner now, will take it all off, clean it up and check it out later.

Could be corrosion on the points, sand them down, and reconnect.

got it all off.. 30 mins of scrubbin with a wire brush and sanpaper made it all shiny again. give all contact points a good clean, and soaked the lot in wd40.

car works a treat now  8)
