Yes and my insurance was £10 more at 24 when I got it. Go for a test drive in one and you'll buy it !! :)

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08

simply yes.....ive had both mk2 8v's and 16v's love both...but the 16v just has bit more about it...and worth going for over a 8v...

only reason ive got a 8v just now is ...looked at 8 mk2's 8v and 16v's and couldnt find what i was looking for untill i came across my current 8v...great car but just missing little bit extra especialy at higher speeds

Can you fit a supercharger or turbo to a 8v?
Passat B5.5 2.3 V5 170, with all the extras.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

 Hi.... Was looking to put a 9A into my GTi but the cost is becoming an issue. Has anyone had any success with re mapping the Digifant computer to get any more out of the 8V. Someone mentioned an induction upgrade for the 8v that is not an option for the 16v. Can anyone elaborate on that Please. My 8v has an adjustable cam gear and a better exhaust manifold so I'm thinking about going with a 2 litre Audi block upgrade instead. Anyone got any ideas on what the HP gain might be.

the mk2 g60 is supercharged 8v engine....dont ever build a car you can buy although not many g60's kicking about....
you could turbo a 8v ...but be just as well to stick a 20vt engine in there....

on a personal note my favorite mk2 they ever did was the mk2 1.8 16v g60...now thats a ubber rare car...and the best they ever did...

and on the note of running on super fuel...its a must ...as supposed to run any mk2 on 98ron fuel or higher...read ur manual if u disagree...or ask the dealer...should have a sticker on inside of ur petrol cap that tells you this...they will run on 95ron but not very well compared with 98ron or higher....unless you get timming adjusted to suit 95ron....but you dont buy a mk2 gti for good mpg??? do you??? its for having fun and using as much fuel as possible and pissing off every tree hugger in the world
