Stiff clutch

My clutch is very heavy and when at the bottom and i remove my foot quickly it doesn't come up straight away.

It was replaced some time within the last 6 months so it's not the actual clutch itself.

Ideas?

How long has it been doing that? Did it start all of a sudden or was it gradual? (or was it like that when you got the car?)

^ Agree with that.
Cable could be faulty tho so you mite need a new one if you can't adjust it any more.

Incidently, does the clutch pedal sit in the proper place and in line with the rest of the pedals? Some owners have experienced the pedal rises too high and this is caused by some faulty bracket.

Sounds like the clutch cable to me. Don´t bugger about with trying to lube it. Just change it. Fit a manual adjustable one, not a self adjustable. :wink:

Thrust bearing?  It's a little bearing that sits behing the tin cover on the end of your gearbox.

I had the same symptoms, even got to a point where the clutch stuck to the floor and i had to pull it up to get going again! Not pretty at trafficlights! Gets worse when its hotter.

I got a new one from VW for a few quid and the garage put it in in a couple of hours.

Been like it since i got the car. I'll probably try a new clutch cable then.

Yeah i replaced my self adjustable with a manual. I was surprised at how much better the gear changes were. Much better driving all round :smiley:
