I did drive the DSG ED30 but went with the manual, for tuning wasn't sure what would happen to the DSG with more power, may not affect it now? but iam more involved with the drive with the 'stick' i have made the decision when to change gear not the machine.i am partial to 1/4 sprint to so prefer to do the take of myself rather than be lazy and let the dsg do it.wheres the skill?
you even get cars to reverse park for you now.it maybe a tech break through and i do like them but each to their own.

I'm more the manual mode type myself

abouts 70% manual mode

25% drive mode

5% sport mode

Oh and when going backwards 100% reverse mode

I tried this on the way back to Ipswich from Hastings today - had to go and see another Mk2 16v... I promised myself I wouldn't buy another but I miss the Mk2 too much.  Anyway, driving DSG as a manual revealed a whole new dimension to the car and I can honestly say I am sooooo glad I didn;t get a manual - as long as those tuners sort out some upgrades to the DSG box to handle all that torque they are offering   I can have a manual in my Mk1/Mk2.

I can see the benifits of the DSG but had to say I just didnt like the way it tried to predict your driving.. Its probably the best/quickest your ever going to change gear.... but for my irratic driving style... its just not as quick as my left hand!! (or right for that matter )

I love the DSG as you really get the best of both worlds.  I can see why alot of folk like the manual but round town the DSG comes into it's own.

Can't speak for others but I am really pleased with what I got

Complete nonsense - I suppose all the drivers in F1 are women then are they?  Its like saying when the car was first invented, 'horseless carriages are for lazy people. Real men ride horses.'

I don't like condoms, that's why I don't use DSG.

Has anyone noticed that on the DSG, using the stick "manually" is the wrong way round?

I'm sure early sequential gearboxes changed up and down the gears in the opposite direction?

Anyway, I'm sure you've discovered it but the best of both worlds is to leave it in D and overide the box on the paddles just as you bowl up to a hairy corner - you get that will it / wont it feeling!!!
