as a start you can't really go wrong with anything meguiars... it's much better than auto glym stuff... (i used auto glym for years and won't go back now)
megs hot rims will clean up your alloys a treat without using any acid - do NOT use wonder wheels or the like unless you don't like your alloys
using a decent quality shampoo, mitt and two bucket method will vastly improve the quality of your wash
and getting a waffle weave will save you tons of time drying your car
as conker said - get some sonus clay and detailing spray... this is the one thing i would recommend over anything else
and for the black bumpers use something like megs trim detailer
megs glass cleaner is the b0llocks and smells really nice too!
personally i'd watch using auto glym super resin polish as it is quite harsh and can leave swirl marks... try something like megs gold class wax or if you're after a really good finish then try collinte
http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/ have most things that you'll need to kick off with... failing that megs stufff you can get from halfrauds although it is slightly more expensive there
it all depends on how anal you want to get with it... the more time and care you put in the better the results
