wierd varied high idle ?
« on: 06 December 2007, 21:13 »
On the way home tonight.......
Gave the car beans , TC off , splashed through a very small puddle (enough to barey be noticeable , about 3 in deep)

I was about 1 minute away from home, pulled up on drive.......

Car idleing between 1200 and 1500 rpm  , going up to 1500 and dropping back.
Consistently well over the normal idle speed.

Now I struggle to believe its water in the electrics , although it is very wet round here at the moment.

Anyone got any ideas?
Have I even got a DV failure?

Went out earlier and car is still not right , varied high idle , and on and off the throttle it just doesnt feel right!!!

Im so sad , its only just run it , 1400 miles

Help!

Doesn't sound too good

Take it back to the dealer if it hasn't gone in a day or two. If it goes, just put it down to water ingress.

i would take it to VW and get it checked out ASAP
putting more mileage on it may make the problem worse or add to the problem

It will probably be at least 2 or 3 days before he will be able to get booked in though (if they are anything like my dealer!)

For peace of mind i would still take it into dealers so that they can give it a once over. Wount cost you a pennny so i say why not.

My dealer is always good like that. I get a nice cup of tea when i go in and they always reserve me a descent courtesy car and not just any old rubbish. Last time i got a GT Sport which i thrashed

It would only take them a few hours to give it a once over and you would have the car back the same day if all was ok

well I do plan to take it in at some poiint , as I think the clutch release bearing isnt quite right on my car.

However I'm always wary of leaving it , so it can recieve bumps n scratches
Which inevitably happens at dealers.

im suprised to hear alot of the guys here dont trust their local VW dealer. I've get on great with mine and have never had any problems. If anything they go out of they way. I recieved a discount the last time i took it in for a service aswell......
