I had a white GTI for 5 days and it blew up on the m8 in Glasgow. Clearly a lemon but it did seem to feel more embarassing having a white car covered in soot on the hard shoulder. Took VW 2 months to work out why it happened by which point I had a nice black GTI which never missed a beat. Stealth all the way.

i've actually conducted tests in my laboratory

and while red was fastest (matches colour of my last car), black officially became the fastest colour when using a secret formula and 2 test tubes, i made a scientific breakthrough.......

keep it quiet though

Yes, but what you have to remember is that these colours (Black and Red) are only fastest at temperatures outside normal operating parameters. Silver is the fastest at normal operating temperatures  You will also find that with the two test tubes that you used, one will have contained a watered down extract of pure silver, which is dangerous in the extreme in untrained hands  Silver is ONLY to be used by drivers who can extract it's full potential and even then restrained use is advised.

I do like white, but don't have the cahoonas to buy a white car - too worried about resale problems.  Albiet my worries may now be unfounded.

maybe not, since Europeans like black more.
Actually, white is hard to sell, I read statistics a few months ago...
I think white is chosen by braver people (because of the lower resale value, because of "cheap color"-stigma, etc)
Was it not that white cars were difficult to shift cos the polis used to swamp the market with their old cars, but now they opt for other colours on the cop cars there is less of an issue with white.  From what I can see in the last year or so companies are showcasing their flagship models in white.

personally and i know it sounds strange but i think white cars look better on bigger roads like the ones you get in usa/japan etc etc

in england the roads are quite narrow and somehow white just doesn't suite
