I have also driven a GT tdi mate and I was surprised with them if im honest, map one of them and your away and then you havent got all the problems of fuel bills, but tbh if it was me, id get a petrol you know it makes sense
Will always love my mk4 but she had to go...225 Quattro TT in its place....but its still black (she lives on in spirit!)

Sorry for sounding like the old man, but if the turbo is going to plunge you into debt, then I would serious consider holding onto your 2 ltr.  Maybe reassess the situation in 12 months when you've got more income coming in??? :wink:

yeh these 1.8t engines have alot of faults too

GT TDI is a torqy lump. remapped and your a winner :cool:
