Opening locked boot
« on: 01 December 2007, 12:11 »
Hey evry1,

My boot lock is being a pain, i cant open it using the key for some reason it wont go in the lock anymore, iv tried WD40 in it but to no avail.

can i open it from inside the car? im hoping to strip the lock down and re assemble to see if that helps.

Cheers Guys and Gals

I think you should be able to climb in over the back seats, then remove the plastic plugs with a flat head screw driver, be gentle and just wiggle them out! then with the cover off you should be able to manually pull/push the rod to pop the boot. Not great with the other half standing in the rain waiting with the shopping  but enough to get into.

good luck

You shouldn't have to pop the plastic trim to get at the mechanism, when my boot jammed whilst on holiday I just jabbed my finger at the release finger until it opened

if it wont come off, hit it, and if it still wont come off, hit it harder

precisely, although must have looked quite funny from outside - a 6'4 guy perched precariously across the front/rear seats of a golf jabbing his finger at something inside the boot
